CODY CHAPMAN ASSIGNMENT 3

KITTY CAT CUSHION COLLECTION

"Spite Cushion”

2014, on a holiday in Vietnam. Walking through a market i spotted this cushion and asked my parents to buy it for me. My mum, non committal, my dad, no way. I didn’t actually care that much, i'd already bought a cat plush on that trip, but that was until my dad fell in love with a 500$ bamboo bike. If he was buying an ornamental bike i was sure as hell buying a 7$ cushion

“The Cat Sleeps Here!”

And she does. And she snores.

“Course Correction”

When i finally upgraded to a queen sized bed my mum thought i would enjoy some cat themed bedding. I open up a gift on christmas day and what do i find but a full batman be spread. “I thought they were cats” she said of the silhouetted batman helmets. This is of course not that pillow.

“Cop Out”

Ok, i get it, it doesn't actually have a cat one it, but how easy do you think it is to collect cushions with cats on them when your not actually going out of your way? I think seven is a compensable effort thank you very much, and if there is a good way to fake an eighth, this is it.

“Humble Beginnings”

This cushion was the very first in my collection. I found it shop in the town on Merimbula New South Wales on a camping holiday. We thought it would just be a cute, but functional momento of our trip but it turned into the genesis of this entire collection.

“Return to Merimbula”

We continued to visit that little store we found the pillow in in subsequent years. A small and craftsy store it was full of some pretty weird stuff most of witch i couldn't care less about but i held out hope that one day another cushion would appear, and in time, this one did.

“End of an Era”

The third pillow from Merimbula, found the same day as the second, my luck had turned, two on the same day. Alas , when we returned the next year the shop was nowhere to be found,my greatest source of Kitty Cushions vanished never to be visited again

“Spite Cushion the Second”

2017, just finished year 11 exams and ready to party, but alas, the parents had other plans. An overnight bike ride to Queenscliff. Lucky, as we were leaving on the second day this cushion caught my eye. It barely fit in the small bike paias we were using but by golly, i was getting this cushion.
